HARRISBURG (October 18, 2018) – For the second consecutive session, Americans for Prosperity-Pennsylvania (AFP-PA) presented Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr. (R-Blair) with the prestigious A+ Legislative Torchbearer Award.  The Keystone State’s leading free-market grassroots organization released the results of their 2017-2018 Economic Freedom Scorecard on Wednesday at the state Capitol.

“It is an honor to be recognized again by the Pennsylvania chapter of this national conservative organization,” said Senator Eichelberger.  “My votes since coming to Harrisburg have reflected my commitment to protecting taxpayers from irresponsible state spending as well as promoting good government policies that will allow businesses and families to thrive.”

AFP-PA scored every state Senator and Representative to educate Pennsylvanians on how their state elected officials voted on the most impactful bills from the 2017-18 legislative session, covering such issues as budgets and spending, corporate welfare, criminal justice reform, and labor.  Only two other Senators earned a perfect score this session.

“We’re thrilled to give Sen. Eichelberger the A+ Legislative Torchbearer Award in recognition of his leadership and commitment to advancing bold reforms that will help people improve their lives,” said AFP-PA Deputy State Director Anna McCauslin.  “We’re thankful to have had the opportunity to work with Sen. Eichelberger to advance policies that break barriers that stand in the way of Pennsylvanians realizing their potential.”

Senator Eichelberger also earned an A+ from AFP-PA on their 2017-18 Midsession Economic Freedom Scorecard last year and the A+ Legislative Torchbearer Award for his perfect score on their inaugural Legislative Scorecard covering the 2015-16 session the prior year.
