Watching to see what else they get done

The PA Constitutional Convention news conference this morning received a lot of play and was well received, as far as I can see at this point.  Rep. Steve Bloom, the sponsor of the legislation in the House, and I were joined by Rep. John McGinnis, Senator Don White and Senator Pat Stefano.  With the budget situations we’re in, there’s never been a better time to look at the structure and operation of the three branches of government.  Speaking of the budget, as I write this in my capitol office at 9:45, the House is going back into session to work on budget bills.  They passed the Human Services Code and the Governor now is questioning whether he’ll sign it or not.  We have progress on a bill that was part of the agreed-to package, so he’ll have a tough time explaining why he shouldn’t sign it.  We’ll be watching to see what else they get done and if any new legislation or amended bills come to the Senate.
