HARRISBURG (March 17, 2017) – The Senate and House Education Committees will hold a hearing Monday on the federal Every Student Succeeds Act with the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Education Commission of the States, and the Foundation for Excellence in Education.

This hearing will be the first in a series. Members will review testimony from various stakeholders, as well as work with students and parents to determine the direction of accountability, academic standards, and assessments in the state’s education system. The recent changes in federal law provide Pennsylvanians with an important opportunity to plan and direct how we will prepare all children for career and college success.

The hearing will take place on Monday, March 20th, 2017, at 10:30 AM in Hearing Room 1 of the North Office Building at the Capitol Complex in Harrisburg. The media is cordially invited to cover this hearing.

The Senate Education Committee is chaired by Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr. (R-Blair). The House Education Committee is chaired by Representative David S. Hickernell (R-Elizabethtown).
