Eichelberger to Talk Budget Hearings, New Chairmanship at Town Hall

HOLLIDAYSBURG (March 22, 2017) – Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr. (R-Blair) will discuss testimony given by state departments during the recent 2017-18 budget hearings and much more at his upcoming town hall meeting in Fulton County.

“Each person who testified was given the opportunity to justify the funding they would get under the proposed budget,” said Senator Eichelberger. “As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I had the opportunity to dig deeper into how they plan to spend budgeted money and question them about how they’ve spent their funding in the past. It’s our job to advocate for fiscal responsibility, cost-saving measures, and government efficiencies moving forward. That, coupled with pension reform, are the top priorities as we advance solutions to pull the Commonwealth out of debt while ensuring the state is giving the taxpayers the top-notch services they deserve.”

In addition to the budget, Senator Eichelberger will talk about the positive legislative progress in the new session. He will also discuss his role as Senate Education Committee Chair and his plans to develop measures that will vastly improve a system that’s been failing many of the state’s children for far too long.

The open, informal forum is part of the Senator’s effort to make state government accessible for all people in the 30th District.
