An opportunity to see the facility and speak with the staff and students

I had my meeting with the state president of the NAACP this morning.  She brought along the presidents of the Philadelphia and Harrisburg chapters.  We had a good discussion about many education issues and could have continued to talk for much longer, but we were up against session starting.  We plan to include each other in events coming up in the future.  After session I took a tour of the Joshua Learning Center in Harrisburg.  This facility is located in one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city and provides education and after-school programs to kids from preschool to senior high.  It’s a very impressive operation that includes programs at the Center and also Joshua Group Scholarships to kids seeking a K-12 education in a private school.  I appreciated the opportunity to see it and speak with the staff and students.
