It was slim pickins this morning at the Lighthouse, the smallest crowd I ever saw up there. But despite the weather, about 30 or so made it and enjoyed the fellowship. I got a few hours of office work done today, not as much as needed, but it was helpful. Charlotte joined me tonight at the Stone Creek Valley Fire Company’s Annual Awards Dinner. State Fire Commissioner Ed Mann was the speaker. He talked about firefighter safety and said that the two leading causes of death for firefighters are heart attacks and vehicle accidents. He said that he will be attending the funeral of a 19 year old firefighter on Monday who was killed this week responding to a fire call in his Jeep. He urged all firefighters to get an annual physical, wear their seat belt and slow down. That’s good advice for all of us.
