I attended the opening luncheon for the Registers of Wills and Clerks of Orphans Court today. Their summer conference is in Altoona. The last time they were here was 1947. The host of that conference was Blair County Register of Wills and Recorder of Deeds, Thomas G. Peoples, Sr. Today, his son, Senior Judge Thomas, Jr., was the keynote speaker. I was the 1st Deputy Register and Recorder in Blair County from 1979 to 1984, so I have a soft spot for these officials. Tonight I went to the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new horse barn at the Bedford County Fair grounds. The $164,000 project was done without tax money. Bedford County Grange Mutual was the prime sponsor with a $50,000 donation. This was a community project in the truest sense. Many individuals, organizations and businesses really came through. It is a great addition to the impressive facility. I’ll be there next week, it’s fair time already.
