I had several appointments scheduled in the capitol office this afternoon after session, so I drove from there straight to choir practice at church. We got two important bills passed today in the Senate. Both would allow County Commissioners to abolish the office of Jury Commissioner in their county. Although the Jury Commissioners I have known are fine people, in some counties in this Commonwealth, the Jury Commissioners don’t show up for work and other people do their jobs. Tax money should not be spent on public positions that are not needed and these bills, if passed into law, would provide some relief from these county expenses. The jury in the Mike Veon Bonusgate trial was is its fourth day of deliberations. They asked the judge some questions today and went back to deliberate. Speculation on guilt or innocence is running wild at the capitol. This will be big news when a decision is announced.
