Sometimes we forget how lucky we are

The Fish and Game Committee members went to a Steelhead hatchery this morning then to a stream that feeds into Lake Erie where the fish were so thick in places that it seemed like you could have walked across them and stayed dry, I never saw anything like it.  We got to try our luck at ice fishing in the bay before meeting with a sportsmen’s group for lunch.  I didn’t catch anything, but a couple of the members got one or two “Crappies”.  This hearing and tour was very informative.  The people we dealt with were knowledgeable and courteous, they made it easy to ask questions and learn.  Fishing is a significant part of the economy in Erie County, more than I ever imagined.  A better job of promoting this fact and the angling opportunities that exist across this state could be done.  Our outdoor resources are tremendous, sometimes we forget how lucky we are to live among them.
