Happy Veterans Day
November 11th, 2009Happy Veteran’s Day everyone. I attended the Altoona Veteran’s Day Parade this morning, then headed to the Altoona Kiwanis’ Veteran’s Day luncheon where I presented about 30 vets with certificates of recognition. I left there and drove to White Sulphur Springs in Bedford County for a new conference center ground breaking. All of these events were, of course, dedicated to our veterans. I appreciate every word said today and heard from several good speakers. I ended the day in Roaring Spring at the VFW’s dinner. I was the speaker and enjoyed the company of many good people from around our area and some from posts across the state. The big rumor in Harrisburg is that the indictments against the Republican House members and, or staff is coming down tomorrow. The charges that have been reported in the press are for things other than paying bonuses for political work. The reported infractions would be connected to the use of information from official computer programs being used for political purposes. The counter argument is that the House GOP paid much more money to the same computer vendor to correctly purchase political information. Maybe we will learn more specifics when, or if, there are indictments. At this point, these issues do not appear to be as clear cut as the charges filed against the Democrats. It makes one wonder if there was an attempt to go after House Republicans just to appear even handed. If any of the House R’s did anything illegal, go after them with everything you have. If these charges are propped up for political reasons, the Attorney General should be held responsible.
