Remember this 10 million dollar trick

October 8th, 2009

Day 100 without a real budget. Things moved along in the process today, but are not done yet. We are scheduled for session tomorrow morning and are expected to vote on allowing table games as well as more of the budget legislation. We discovered that the appropriations bill was amended in the House yesterday to add $10 million to the operations accounts of the House Democrat and House Republican caucuses. They moved money in the welfare budget from one budget year into another and called it a cut to cover up the transfer of money for themselves. This is the stuff that makes people mistrust their government and makes many of us sick. The next time you hear someone from the House talk about wasteful spending, remember this 10 million dollar trick.
