Day 97 without a real budget. Announced budget deal number 3 is working through the process and I am more confident that this one will get done. The deal is not much different than the last one, in fact, it is a little better. The taxes on small games of chance and the arts, zoos and museums have been dropped and $100 million has been cut from the Welfare budget to get to a lower spend number. The new budget will still not get my vote, but I applaud the changes. It looks like the Senate will have everything done by tomorrow with the exception of the table games legislation, which has some work to be done on it. We are still on the floor at 9:30 and hope to be done soon. Things seem to be going through smoothly, but I wouldn’t bet my truck on the deal just yet.
