I wouldn’t bet the truck on it

Day 89 without a real budget. I didn’t see much of anything in the newspapers today. Most of the stories were about the G-20 Summit in Pittsburgh. I talked to a State Rep. today who told me that he heard the budget deal was changed yesterday and that the House D’s were more on board. Who knows about this, it could be just another rumor. I went to a couple of stores this afternoon and was stopped on two occasions by volunteer firefighters who don’t like the tax on the small games of chance. I told them that there were discussions in Harrisburg last week about the issue and that there may be some remedies proposed. I also told them that I was not supporting the tax. Yesterday I heard from several veterans concerning the same issue and how it would affect their Legions and VFW’s. This tax is not going down well and I predict that all legislators will be hearing about it from their constituents. This week will be make or break time for the budget deal. It either gets done or we start over. I’m guessing the chances are 60/40 for the deal. I wouldn’t bet the truck on it, however.
