Hopefully principal and the conviction to do the right thing will win out

August 6th, 2009

Day 37 without a real budget.  The Senate is scheduled to go back into session next week, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.  Specifically, we need to take action on a number of bills that will enable the state to pay the workers of a few agencies that somehow don’t fall under the same guidelines as the rest of the state employees.  There doesn’t appear to be much else happening with the budget today.  People are talking about passage in September or even October.  By that time, things will get tougher for many people who are owed money by the state.  The Governor, of course, knows this and even stated as much at the stop-gap budget signing ceremony.  Hopefully principal and the conviction to do the right thing will win out over expediency.
