Stay tuned

I didn’t have any committee meetings this week in Harrisburg, but will have some next. We are getting back into a regular routine and got a number of bills through the Senate this week. I have been working on the Marriage Amendment and a tax reform bill that should be announced tomorrow. Legislation does move through the process during the budget process. The media often portrays the legislature as being either incapable or unwilling to vote on legislation, other than budget bills, at this time of the year. The rumors at the capitol today concerned the House’s actions on Senate Bill 850 (our budget bill). The House Appropriations Committee is supposed to take up the bill on Monday but no one is sure if they will vote on the bill or just discuss it. Some people say that nothing will really happen, others think that the House will pass the bill and send it to the Governor who will veto only certain parts of the bill like education and maybe healthcare. That scenario has happened before and has taken many months to work through. Stay tuned.
