You do the best job that you can

Article posted on May 13, 2009

I had a rare schedule today, with nothing scheduled except an overdue haircut. I am working on a number of things in the office and really didn’t get to many of the emails and letters that I had planned to attack. I have to speak tomorrow at a lunch meeting and have a Town Hall meeting tomorrow night where we are trying out a new format. I am getting ready for a speech on Memorial Day and one for a high school graduation ceremony. These events all take more time than most people think. All the while, I am working on issues for constituents, legislation and scheduling. Legislation is tougher for me to work on from the district. It might not be for others, but it is for me. I don’t have the same resources that I have in Harrisburg so every conversation is by email or phone. People are tougher to reach and the face to face meetings where you can all agree to do whatever just aren’t a possibility. Nonetheless, you do the best job that you can.
