Senator Eichelberger to Discuss Budget in Saxton

May 6th, 2009

To provide an insider’s view on the looming deficit and possible solutions

On Monday, May 18, 2009, Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr. will hold a Town Hall meeting in Saxton, Pennsylvania focusing on the state budget.

“This is an opportunity for constituents to learn how the budget process works, how it impacts their lives, and what we should be doing differently in Harrisburg.  The budget is probably the most important thing the General Assembly does every year,” he says.  “It’s important to me that my constituents understand what is happening and that I hear from them as this process proceeds.”

Estimates are that Pennsylvania is facing a budget deficit that could exceed $2.6 billion.  John will offer his perspective on how this deficit came to be as well as how the legislature should go about balancing this year’s budget.
