Let’s see how many fold
May 3rd, 2009Today, after church and in between paperwork, I went to the funeral home to see JoAnn Dugan, a nice lady from Blair County who has helped with many things in our community, including working to stop our illegal drug problem. She will be missed by many people. I had an Eagle Scout ceremony in Bellwood and I have a communion service tonight at church. I understand that we will have a busy three days in Harrisburg. The revenue figures from April made things worse, $300 Million worse. We left last week with a balanced budget bill ready to be introduced and now have to recalculate things. My conversations with most people have been that they understand that things are going to be cut. They really don’t expect the legislature to have any money. Outside of the activists that want their budget line protected, I would bet that most Pennsylvanians want a budget that meets our economic times and has no tax increase. They can’t afford a tax increase and they are not happy about all of the money the feds are spending and borrowing. We can do a solid budget with no new taxes, or we can fold. Let’s see how many people in Harrisburg are ready to do the right thing and how many fold.
