I am not very confident given how things have gone
April 5th, 2009After church I met Charlotte and my mother for lunch at the East Freedom Fire Hall then went to the Cesare Battisti Club in Altoona where I was the speaker for a meeting of Unit Directors of the Fraternal Order of Clubs. There were people there from all over the state and we had an open discussion with a lot of back and forth about the small games of chance and bingo bills in the legislature. I hit the office for some work and am looking forward to getting home for supper tonight. There wasn’t much in the papers today. There were a couple of stories about Bonusgate; how much is being spent by the legislature (about $6 million so far), the fact that Tom Corbett hasn’t indicted any Republicans and a story about a web site that has been very critical of Tom Corbett and who might be behind the site. At this point, I think that most people feel that someone else should have handled this investigation. It looks very political and has cost an awful lot of money. For everyone’s sake, I hope that we see some real results including convictions, I must confess, however, that I am not very confident given how things have gone.
