Senator Eichelberger Reintroduces Bonus Ban
March 18th, 2009Says Now is the Time to Act
Harrisburg, PA – Wednesday, March 18, 2009, Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr. is reintroducing the Commonwealth Agency Bonus Ban Act as Senate Bill 103. This important legislation bans all bonuses for all branches of government, including the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, the state’s two pension funds, the legislature, and the Governor’s Office.
“With all of the scandals and misuses of taxpayer money that have been revealed as of late, it is difficult to understand why this legislation has yet to become law. This common-sense bill is necessary to help change the attitude in Harrisburg, and to restore some degree of trust with our citizens,” says Eichelberger.
During the 2007-2008 Legislative Session, this legislation passed the Senate unanimously and was voted out of the House State Government committee, but was not considered by the full House. Since this is a new session, the legislation must be reintroduced as Senate Bill 103 and go through the entire process again in order for the bonus ban to become law.
