I had a busy day today that included lunch with the regional director of the Dept. of Agriculture, my usual taping of the
Christian radio show I do every couple of weeks, two more radio interviews about my news release from yesterday concerning saving money in the legislature, a Huntingdon County Chamber Christmas party and a funeral for a good friend, Daryl “Doc” Dawson. Doc was the Director of the Altoona office of New Day, Inc., a Christian organization that does counseling, prison ministry and programs for youth. I have been involved with this group for many years and know about all of the good work Doc has done for our area. He was also the pastor of a local church and ran a prison re-entry program out of his home. At his funeral today, people commented on all of the many things that Doc did, how busy he was and how he never stopped working on ideas and problems. Doc will be missed by lots of people including me. He was one of a kind.
