Fulton LEAD

Article posted on December 12, 2008

My cold is still with me but is getting better each day. I hope by tomorrow that I’ll be pretty much over it, we’ll see. I did an editorial board meeting today with the Morrison’s Cove Herald. They have a new owner/publisher who talked with me along with the outgoing owner. We had a good discussion about the affairs of our area and Pennsylvania. I headed to Fulton County this afternoon for a meeting with a school district and our last LEAD meeting for 2008. We had a nice turnout for the meeting tonight at the Ayr Township Municipal building and will follow up on some things to help the people of that county. Fulton County is going through some very tough times with the layoffs at JLG Industries, the county’s largest employer. In a county that has a little over 14,000 people and one dominant workplace, the economy of the county is tied to the success of the business. It looks like this could be a long and deep slowdown for JLG. We can only hope that it will come back strong when the global economy turns around.
