I got the news of Catherine Baker Knoll’s death last evening from a local reporter who called for my comments about her life. I did a number of additional interviews this morning. I talked about my relationship with her and told some stories about her dog Boomer or “BBK” and her interest in children who visited the Senate chamber. She always had time for kids and showered them with candy and coloring books. She was a very nice lady and I will miss her. I wish the best to Senator Joe Scarnati who will take her place as Lt. Governor. It will be an adjustment period for everyone in the Senate. We have a memorial service planned for Senator Jim Rhoades next week and I’m sure we will soon hear of services for Catherine. It is an interesting time. On a happier note, our dogs Rascal and Keeno turned 10 today. Happy birthday boys!
