This morning I spoke to 9th graders who were in attendance at a career fair at the Huntingdon Vo-Tech school. There were a lot of good, solid local companies there to speak to the kids about the opportunities they offer. Many of these businesses will even train people or work with local schools to train and hire their graduates. It was a great program and I was glad to be part of it. I had several other meetings today and did a tour of the Central PA Humane Society. I was glad to read a story tonight about Joe Scarnati who stated that if Ed Rendell is assuming that we will raise taxes this year (as a result of the economic downturn), he is dead wrong. Joe went on to say that we need to make deep cuts in spending and that those cuts will help the people of Pennsylvania. I couldn’t have said it any better myself.
