Maybe we need a new amendment sponsor

July 13th, 2008

After church I took Charlotte to the East Freedom Fire Hall for their monthly ham and turkey lunch. I see a lot of people when I am out and talk to them about just about anything. Over the past two days, I have gotten requests from people about the budget, highway signals at railroad crossings where the rail line has been abandoned, a lost title for an old trailer, a new bill that was just passed pertaining to volunteer fire fighters, people speeding on a city street and a couple of other issues. This is why I always try to carry a pen and paper with me. There was an interesting piece in the Philadelphia Inquirer today that mentioned a response to my question about what happened to my “Bonus Ban” bill from the Chairwoman of the House State Government Committee. Her reported response was that the Attorney General did not support the bill as drafted, this is news to me. I never heard anything from or about the Attorney General on this bill. The Auditor General had some concerns and we worked with him to address them. We had amendment language ready to go months ago that would strengthen the bill. We worked with the Chairwoman’s staff and, interestingly, Representative Sean Ramaley, who serves on that committee. We thought that he would offer the amendment. In case you haven’t followed the news closely, Representative Ramaley was one of the 12 people charged in the investigation. Maybe we need a new amendment sponsor.
