The small pleasures of life

May 10th, 2008

I did o.k. in the 5K race this morning in Hyndman. My time was 21:02 which averaged 6:48 per mile. I won my age group and came in 9th overall, it was a pretty small field though. I had a great lunch with Charlotte at the Bedford Springs, the occasion was the 60th Anniversary of the Bedford BPW Club, we had a nice time there with some very nice people. Charlotte and I also went to the Petersburg Senior Center tonight for their recognition dinner. I got to speak to the group about some budget issues affecting the senior centers. The central debate concerns the percentage of the distribution of funds between long term care and the quality of life providers like the Area Agencies on Aging. The administration is proposing a shift to more funding for the quality of life issues. We’ll see how the budget works out. The big news of the day is that I got all of my yard mowed for the first time this year. Aah, the small pleasures of life.
