This week might hold the record for early morning events. I had two so far at 7:30, another one tomorrow and my men’s fellowship on Saturday at 7:00. My latest start was 8:30, where is this 9:00 to 5:00 schedule? I did a tour of the Altoona High School’s Classrooms for the Future project this morning and was impressed with what I saw. I have heard of some negative reports on this teaching method but generally have heard that it is beneficial and suspect that it varies from school to school, as do many programs. I ended the day at a county-wide school district meeting hosted by the Pennsylvania School Board’s Association in Bedford County. I attend three of these meetings each year, one in Bedford, Blair and Huntingdon Counties. Tonight’s meeting was informative and well attended. I appreciated the open discussion and soaked in as much information as I could. Education funding is very complex and some of the other issues that are being presented in the legislature could have a big impact on the schools in our area. Given our shortened session schedule this year, a lot of the bills out there will not make it through the system, hopefully none of the bad ones will.
