People want something done about PHEAA

October 13th, 2007

My truck got inspected today so I did not make it to my men’s fellowship meeting early this morning.  I did get to Hartslog Days in Alexandria, Huntingdon County and The Fall Foliage Festival in Bedford, Bedford County.  At both events, Charlotte and I talked to a lot of people.  The number one issue brought up to us was PHEAA.  This issue is what everyone seems to be talking about.  People clearly want something done and more than one person has asked about criminal mismanagement charges being pursued.  If the legislature doesn’t act on this quickly, I’m sure the Governor will.  He has to be doing some polling on this, everything seems to work through polling at the capital.  His plan to appoint the board (in other words, load it up with his people from Philadelphia) will be the one we end up addressing because we now have no plan on the table.  I will be talking to other Senators about this next week when we get back to Harrisburg.

  1. Dr. Howard H. Crouch (PhD) Says:

The importance of PHEAA to all potential college students can’t be argued. The necessity of keeping this situation of bonus pay a non-partisan is absolute. Don’t allow it to become R vs. D. This is a tough goal but necessary.
