The Senate passed my bonus ban bill today 48-0. This ended up being a fairly complicated piece of legislation.. I had a lot of media calls today and discovered that many had questions about the language. After reading a few of the reports, some of these folks understood things better than others. Believe it or not, the Governor said that he would veto the bill unless it was amended to include the ability to dole out bonuses for as much as 10 percent of an employee’s salary. What planet is he living on? We would basically be back to where we are now with that caveat. The only report I got concerning the House’s intentions was that Bill DeWeese spoke favorably about the bill and would support it; I hope that report was accurate and it gets through the House quickly. It will be interesting to see how the Governor finally reacts if he gets this bill as it left the Senate.
