YORK (08-08-2007) – At it’s annual convention in York, the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania (CCAP), today presented “The 2007 Friend of County Government Award” to 30th District freshman State Senator John H. Eichelberger, Jr.
“’The Friend of County Government Award’ is one of our most prestigious because it is the only award that can be presented to individuals outside of county government. (John Eichelberger was) selected by a panel of county officials to receive this prestigious award based on (his) commitment to county legislative issues,” said Douglas E. Hill, Executive Director, CCAP.
Senator Eichelberger thanked CCAP. He said, “It’s a great honor for me to be recognized by my former peers. I hope to do much more to help county and local governments in the remainder of my term.”
He added, “Far too often, broad policy decisions are made in Harrisburg without proper consideration of the effects on local government. All legislators need to be more aware of the structure of our Commonwealth and the consequences of our decisions on counties, school districts, and municipalities.”
