Trying to protect the taxpayer

June 13th, 2007

This was a record week for me in Harrisburg where I interviewed a bunch of people for confirmation by the Senate.  I had 3 Parole Board nominees, 2 PLCB nominees, 2 PUC nominees and the nominee for Insurance Commissioner stop in to my office.  It’s a wonder I got much else done.  I finished up staff evaluations today.  As I said before, I have been blessed with good people.  The Senate Appropriations Committee put out a bare bones budget today.  With all of the games being played right now, this is a pretty straight forward, no tax, no gimmick plan.  I’m anxious to hear the reaction to it.  I introduced a bill today that requires a super majority of 2/3rds vote of the General Assembly to pass a tax increase.  This is another component in the war against higher taxes and higher spending.
