Democratic Representative Dan Frankel introduced a bill Wednesday to expand Pennsylvania’s Human Relations Act. The bill would protect people who live and work in PA from discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
Republican Senator Patrick Browne introduced a similar bill in the Senate in April.
Two local Republican leaders say they would probably vote against the bill. Senator Jake Corman says he hasn’t seen a copy of the legislation, so he won’t take a firm stance. But previously, he opposed similar bills. Senator John Eichelberger says he would vote against the legislation. He says homosexuals shouldn’t receive special protection under the law.
